Photographic
and Video Site Analysis Guidelines |
|
|
|
|
1. |
Take a single or a panoramic series of photos or
videos from several locations:
|
|
a. |
looking into and out of the site
|
b. |
of and from the front, back, and sides of the
house
|
c. |
and of any particularly challenging existing
areas or elements that need specific attention in the analysis and design
process
|
|
2. |
Use a sweeping arc from left to right, overlapping photos/videos to
create a panoramic view or use panoramic film
|
3. |
Mount panoramic views on a poster board with "magic mending
tape" or glue. Do not bring individual photos in a stack and
sort through them in class or in the studio! This wastes both of
our time.
|
4. |
Indicate photo or video locations on a small sketch of the site on the
poster board or on the plot plan (see example below):

Support information that might be helpful in the
analysis and design process: |
|
|
Architect's or Builder's plans including floor plans,
site plans, topographic survey, elevations
and details, and pictorial drawings. |
|
As-built plans of existing underground and overhead
utilities indicating locations of electric
lines, meters, and transformers; waterlines, hose bibs, and meters; sewer
lines and
cleanouts; storm drains, inlets, outlets, manholes, and mainlines; gas
lines and meters;
phone lines and pedestals, cable TV lines and connections, and roof
gutters and
downspouts. |
|
Freehand sketches by the owner/student showing problem areas. |
|
Irrigation system plans, well size and capacity, and gallons per minute
and pressure of existing
water supply. |
|
Outdoor lighting plans, with fixtures, and underground wiring. |
